Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information MythSmith collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the MythSmith website, iOS app, and Android app.
MythSmith is a small team, so this is written in plain language rather than dense legal boilerplate wherever we could manage it. If anything here is unclear, contact us — see the bottom of this page.
Information we collect
Account information — your name, email address, username, date of birth, and password, or the identifier Google or Apple gives us if you sign in that way instead. If you link a Google or Apple account, we keep that provider and its identifier.
Optional profile details — a bio, avatar, link, and, if you choose to answer, an age range, gender, and region from Settings → Demographics. Demographics stay private and never appear on your profile.
Content you create — characters, adventures, story cards, and any scenario you publish to the community.
Community activity — posts, comments, likes, who you follow, who you block, scenarios you bookmark, tips you send, and reports you file.
Scales and rewards — your Scales balance, daily-reward streak, and the tips you send and receive.
Images — anything you upload (like a character reference) and anything MythSmith generates for you.
Purchase information — which plan or credit pack you're on. Payment itself is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play; MythSmith never sees your card number.
Basic technical data — app version, device type and operating system, IP address, and your push-notification token, so we can keep the service running, deliver notifications, and fix what breaks. If you use MythSmith as a guest, we keep this technical data under a temporary guest ID, and link it to your account if you sign up.
Usage data — how much you play and which AI models and features you use, which we use to enforce plan limits and to cover the cost of running the service.
How we use it
To run the game: your turns are sent to our AI provider to generate the story's next response, and your progress is saved to your account so it's there next time you open the app.
To process payments and apply the right plan, credits, and entitlements to your account.
To send account emails you'd expect — verification codes, password resets, and data-export links — and push notifications and in-app notifications about replies, mentions, and followers, according to the preferences you set.
To power multiplayer adventures, the daily reward, tips, and following, which need to know who you are and who you play with.
To understand our community and improve recommendations, using the optional demographics you provide.
To review scenarios you publish before they go live to the community, and to review reports of content that may break our guidelines.
To check content automatically against our rules: community posts and comments before they are posted, and scene-art prompts and the finished images before you see them. If a post is refused, we keep a copy of it for our moderation team to review.
To keep MythSmith working and secure — debugging, fraud prevention, and abuse prevention.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We do share what's necessary with the vendors that make MythSmith work, each bound by their own privacy terms:
OpenAI, to generate story text from your turns, to summarize and remember your story as you play, and to run the automatic safety checks on posts, comments, scene-art prompts, and generated images.
Chutes.ai, an image-generation provider, which receives the prompts you use to create scene art.
Firebase (Google), for account sign-in and push notifications.
Apple and Google, for sign-in and for billing when you subscribe or buy credits through their stores.
AWS, to store uploaded and generated images, and our email delivery providers (SendGrid and Resend) to deliver account emails.
RevenueCat, to keep subscription status in sync across the App Store, Google Play, and your account.
We may also share information if required by law, or to protect the safety of MythSmith and its players.
AI-generated content
Turning your input into a story requires sending it to an AI model. That's true of every turn you write, every image you request, and anything else that needs the AI to respond. It's core to how MythSmith works, not an optional data use.
The AI's output is generated, not written or reviewed by us line by line — see the Terms of Service for how that affects what you can rely on it for.
Community & public content
If you publish an adventure as a scenario, its title, description, and tags become visible to other players. Don't publish anything you'd rather keep private.
Community posts, discussions, and comments are visible to other players by design.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account from Settings permanently removes your adventures, characters, community posts and comments, likes, follows, bookmarks, and notifications — we can't recover them afterward.
What remains is limited: scenarios you published stay up, because other players may have adventures running on them, but they are no longer attributed to you; your sign-in details are replaced with anonymous placeholders; and we keep purchase and moderation records that we need for accounting and safety.
Data exports you request are kept for seven days, then expire.
Your choices
You can update your email, username, or password at any time from Settings.
You can turn push and email notifications on or off independently from Notification Preferences.
You can download an archive of your adventures, creations, images, and profile from Settings → Manage Account → Data & Backups.
You can answer, change, or clear your optional demographics at any time, and unlink a connected Google or Apple sign-in.
You can lock your safety settings with a Parental Lock PIN.
You can block other players, and see or undo your blocks in Settings → Blocked users.
You can delete your account outright from Settings. For anything else — a specific question about what we hold — contact support.
Children's privacy
MythSmith isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. Stories, scene art, and community content are all held to a 12+ rating. Parents can lock the safety settings with a Parental Lock PIN.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute protection — but we treat this seriously and investigate anything that looks wrong.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use MythSmith after a change means you accept the update.
