MYTHSMITH
Interactive storytelling

An AI story generator you play instead of read

A generator gives you a story. MythSmith gives you a turn — and then writes what your turn did to the world.

Generated stories versus played ones

Ask a normal AI story generator for a story and you get a finished object: a beginning, a middle, an end, and no way in. It is pleasant to read once, and there is nothing to do with it afterwards.

An interactive story is the opposite shape. It stops at every point where you would have made a choice, and the next paragraph does not exist until you make one. That is the difference between watching a world and being inside it.

Where the story comes from

Start with an idea as small as "a lighthouse that has begun signalling to something inland" and MythSmith builds outward: who staffs it, what the town believes, what has been arriving on the tide since spring.

From there, the story is generated a scene at a time, in response to what you did — which is why it can end up somewhere no synopsis would have predicted. Nothing is aiming for a planned finale, because there is not one.

For writers, too

It is a good way to work out a world before you write in it: interview a character until they say something surprising, run a scene three different ways, or find out what your setting looks like from the point of view of someone who lives there and does not care about the plot.

Story cards keep the canon fixed while you experiment, so exploring a branch does not quietly rewrite the parts you had already settled.

What you get

  • Written as you play

Each scene is generated for the move you just made, not pulled from a plan.

  • Start from a sentence

One line of premise is enough for a world to be built around.

  • Every genre

Horror, romance, mystery, sci-fi, quiet realism — the storyteller follows your lead.

  • Canon that holds

Story cards keep names, rules and history from drifting mid-story.

  • No ending to reach

Stop when the story is done with you, not when a page count runs out.

  • Free to use

Write as many stories as you like on the free tier.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Can I use what I write with it?

Yes — the stories you create are yours to keep and use. The terms of service spell out the details.

Can I control the tone or content?

Yes. Tone and safety controls set how dark or how gentle a story is allowed to get, and you can adjust them at any point without restarting.

Does it work for non-fantasy stories?

Completely. Nothing about the storyteller is fantasy-specific — historical, contemporary, sci-fi and no-genre-at-all stories all work the same way.

How is this different from asking a chatbot for a story?

The game holds state. Characters, places and events persist between turns, so a long story stays consistent instead of drifting as the conversation gets longer.
