An AI text adventure game you can play free
MythSmith is a text adventure where the world is written as you play it. You type what your character does; an AI storyteller writes what the world does back.
What an AI text adventure actually is
A classic text adventure was written in advance. Somewhere in a file sat every room, every object, and every sentence you were ever going to read — which is why typing something the author had not thought of got you "I don't understand that."
An AI text adventure game removes the file. Instead of matching your words against a list of pre-written responses, the AI reads what you wrote, works out what it would mean in this world, and writes the next passage on the spot. Type "climb the bell tower and cut the rope" and it does not need to have been anticipated — it just happens, and the town below reacts to a bell that will never ring again.
The practical difference is that you stop guessing at the parser. You write plain English, the way you would tell a friend what your character is doing, and the story keeps up.
How a turn works
Open with a scenario — one from the community shelf, or two lines of your own — and MythSmith fills in the geography, the factions and the people who live there. From then on the loop is simple: you write a move, the storyteller narrates the consequence, and the world moves whether or not you did anything.
Because nothing past your opening is fixed, there is no wrong turn to take and no ending to reach. A story stops when you are finished with it, not when the author ran out of pages.
Keeping a long story straight
The hard part of an AI adventure game is not writing one good paragraph — it is writing the four hundredth paragraph and still remembering that the innkeeper is dead, that you burnt the bridge in chapter two, and that your character has never once told the truth about their name.
MythSmith handles that with story memory and story cards: memory carries what has already happened, and cards pin down the facts you never want drifting — a character, a city, a rule of magic, the shape of the war. Paid plans widen how much of that the storyteller can hold at once, but the free tier plays the same game.

Questions, answered.
Is this AI text adventure game free?
Yes. Starting a story, writing every turn and continuing a world costs nothing. Paid plans add longer memory, a wider context window and credits for scene art, but the game itself is free forever.
Do I need to install anything to play?
No. MythSmith runs in the browser, and there are native iOS and Android apps if you would rather play on a phone.
Can I type anything, or is there a list of commands?
Anything. There is no command list and no parser — you write what your character does in ordinary sentences, and the storyteller works out what that means in the world you are in.
How long can one adventure run?
As long as you keep playing. Story memory and story cards are what keep a campaign coherent past the point where a chat would start forgetting things.
